Love Is In The Air
Valentine's Day is here and love is in the air. It's time to re-connect with your significant other. A chance to spend cuddle time, dine out, feed each other chocolate, maybe drink some wine, perhaps indulge in a romanic getaway. Or maybe you prefer to skip the standard ways to celebrate and decide to take a leap into the unknown. Either way it's time to celebrate and appreciate love and all things that bring you closer together.
As a wife and romance writer I find myself trying to find clever ways to shake things up and make this celebration of love unique and full of special moments that will always be remembered. Sometimes I don't want the standard dinner out or the chocolate covered strawberries that everyone else seems to go for. But what to do? How can I make a marriage, that has withstood the test of time for over twenty-five years, more interesting? And how can I put my characters in new and unusual romantic situations that are believable? It can be quite the dilemma. Or maybe not. Sometimes It's just best to follow your gut, that intuition everyone has.
When writing I love setting my imagination free and have my hero and heroine sitting by the fire in a cozy lit living room while feeding each other hors d'oeuvres, drink beer or wine and listen to smooth jazz. In my personal life I schedule picnics at the beach off season just like my husband and I used to enjoy when we were dating and recapture that memory with him. So what do you think is romantic? Is it something simple and sweet? Over the top impressive? Or is it somewhere in between? Happy Valentine's Day, I hope you find the type of love you can always cherish and that withstands the passing of time.
